Dear Family and Friends,
As the world awaits the results of this historic election, we decided to take a break from the election coverage and update you on our news. First, what is it like to be in America today? Has the election fever spread throughout the country, like the news is reporting it has? The international news has increasingly been covering the election over the past few days. It has been non-stop election news coverage here.
Well…the day has finally come for us to announce our future plans. We are nearing the end of three years of living abroad. Our experience has been incredible and we have grown in ways we never imagined we would. We feel blessed to have had this chance to experience a new culture, language, and way of life. We highly recommend that you take advantage of an opportunity like this if it comes your way! However, we realize we miss being able to spend time with our families and friends. We have made our decision and we will be returning “home”. Where is home, exactly, you might ask? Fargo, North Dakota! We hope you’ll be able to visit us there!
Next, you might ask, when will this happen? We are in the midst of our move planning and preparations. We now have less than four weeks of work left and then we’ll be leaving Zurich in the beginning of December. Each day, we are thinking of our time here coming to an end “with one happy and one sad eye” as they say in German.
Before we close out the third quarter, we had some exciting things happen. In September, our friends, Dave and Melanie, from NY visited us. We explored Zurich, climbed to Uetliberg, and took a day trip to Gruyere with them. We had a lot of fun together! We were reminded how good the fresh Gruyere cheese is, we will certainly miss that. Take a look at some of our pictures (some from our apartment and some from our travels). We also went on an amazing night hike to Pilatus – read our separate posting about that – this was an experience we’ll always remember.
As we close, it looks more and more likely that Obama will win. Steve says it is a good thing that we won’t have any income next year! Happy Voting!
We miss you all very much and would love to hear from you, too!
Love,
Steve & Chris
